Quality Assurance
Since 2013, Italian universities have been included in a system of Self-Assessment, Evaluation and Accreditation (SEA), which provides for a new regulatory and procedural framework within which to develop a series of activities aimed at ensuring the Quality Assurance (QA) of their locations and the study programs activated therein.
The Department implements its teaching and research quality assurance system through a series of Commissions, coordinating with the University Quality Presidium through the Departmental QA Delegate in the Science Area Presidium.
Departmental QA Delegate in the Science Area Presidium: Prof. Paola Nola
The group consists of the QA Delegate in the University Quality Presidium and the Coordinators of the Commissions. Special attention is paid to monitoring the quality of teaching and research.
In addition, the Department has two other informal commissions aimed at fostering not only the quality of the activities carried out but also the dissemination of the results obtained.
The Third Mission and Technology Transfer Commission has the task of:
- monitor and enhance all public engagement and technology transfer activities that are carried out by the members of the Department;
- promote and enhance non-profit activities with educational, cultural and societal development value.
The Promotion and Communication Commission is responsible for:
- promoting the Department's educational and research activities in society, with particular attention to young people, and to the education and professional world;
- disseminating in society, and in particular in the younger generations, knowledge of the Earth and Nature Sciences, of the natural, environmental, and geological characteristics of the territory, of the adaptations of the living organisms that populate natural ecosystems, of the impact that urbanisation and human activities have on ecosystems and the territory, and awareness of the problems related to the dynamics and fragility of the territory and the environment;
- promoting university guidance for high school students and professional training for teachers, through stages, workshops, meetings, visits to the department's laboratories and museums, seminars, and ad hoc lectures.
