1) Permafrost monitoring in Trentino (Southeastern Italian Alps).
The research aims to monitor the current state and dynamics of permafrost in some high-altitude environments of Trentino over the long term as a function of climate change. The investigations are based on long-term data series, obtained by monitoring several key environmental variables.
2) Creation of the geomorphological database of the Adamello Brenta UNESCO Global Geopark (Trentino).
The research aims to study and map the landforms within the 1100 sq km Geopark using a GIS geodatabase. The investigations are based on remote landform recognition using digital orthophotos and DEMs, and pay particular attention to those related to glacial and periglacial processes.
3) PRIN 2022 SUBSURFICE - Eco-hydrological and environmental significance of subsurface ice in Alpine watersheds
In mountain areas, runoff from snow, glaciers, and groundwater represents an important water resource for lowland areas, especially during warm and arid periods. The primary objective of the SUBSURFICE project is to improve our understanding of rock glacier ice and its eco-hydrological effects.
