1. Stratigraphy and sedimentology of Mesozoic and Paleogene carbonate terrains of the Italian-French Maritime Alps
The topics listed are part of a generalized study plan of a "core" topic that can be broadly defined as "modes of embedding of carbonate platforms and their evolution, both on a small scale (diagenesis, rare events, detailed study of gaps, etc.) and over time." Therefore, the research activity alternates publications of a specific nature and specific analysis with others of a more general and concise nature.
2. Stratigraphy and sedimentology of Triassic and Jurassic terrains of non-Penninic areas, i.e., the Southern Alps, Provençal domains, and Sardinia
In the last decade, a new line of research has been initiated that involves the use of glauconites as facies and subfacies indicators. In this context, research has been completed on Cretaceous successions of the Dauphinois Autochthonous of southeastern France. Another research topic has focused on defining the dynamics of Mesozoic rifting in the Maritime Alps. The research project focused on the sedimentary successions of the Ligurian region, which highlight the evolution of the European margin. In particular, a specific line of research aims to detail the sedimentary evolution of this crustal sector in order to better characterize its geodynamics in the Late Triassic-Dogger interval.
3. Sedimentological and diagenesis studies of depositional surfaces characterized by "rare events"
Research on diastemic horizons from the Dauphinois Jurassic and the Provençal Cretaceous is currently being finalized, aimed at understanding the depositional dynamics and overall geodynamic context of these crustal sectors.
